Profile of China National Garment Association
Founded in 1991, China National Garment Association (CNGA) is a self-disciplining, nonprofit and nationwide intermediary organization of China's garment industry, and was assessed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as 4A industry association. In line with the principle of promoting the development of Chinese garment industry, CNGA provides garment-related services for government, industry and society. Secretariat comprises Administration Department, Membership Department, Industry Department, Information Department, Exhibition Department, Liaison Department and Training & Coordinating Department. Additionally, there are ten commissions, namely, Men's Wear, Women's Wear, Children's Wear, Sports & Casual Wear, Lingerie, Accessories, Downwear & Related Products, Garment Auxiliary Material & Related Industry, Business Wear and Shoes & Hats. Other special entities include Marketing and Promotion Professional Committee, Technical Professionals Committee, National Apparel Standardization Technical Committee, Research Institute of Industrial Economy and Beijing Fashion-Expo Co., Ltd. CNGA has over 1600 major members, which cover most of the original apparel brands in China. Furthermore, well-known apparel cities and townships in China are also appointed as Director Unit to drive the development of industry clusters together with CNGA. CNGA's service has covered tens of thousands of companies. CNGA takes on boosting the industry as its responsibility and commits itself to industrial structure adjustment and innovative growth pattern. On the basis of incubating, assisting and promoting China's original apparel brands, CNGA enhances the communication and coordination with upstream and downstream industries, enterprises and governments, accelerates cooperation with international institutes and strives to create a favorable atmosphere for the development of Chinese apparel enterprises. The major tasks of CNGA include: protect intellectual property rights (IPR), strengthen social supervision, fight against unfair competition, safeguard the industry's interest by formulating industry regulations and administering industry behaviors, research and analyze the industry development and market trends in China and abroad, participate in drafting industry development strategy, raise suggestions on policy and legislation to government and provide information and consultation service to companies, advocate technological advancement, promote informationization construction, hold various personnel education and training and encourage enterprises to follow the road of self-innovation, join the formulation and amendment of industry standards and organize the implementation of the standards, organize the brands to display in China and overseas and assist enterprises in exploring domestic and overseas markets, carry out industrial safety investigation and release industry warning information, host international dialogue, implement industry diplomacy, enhance international economic collaboration and exchanges, and facilitate the international cooperation. To assist the decision-making of the government and market positioning of the enterprises, CNGA compiles Recommendations on the Development Plan of Garment Industry and Annual Report on the Development of Chinese Garment Industry for many years, which gives out middle and long term plan and annual analysis of the garment industry. To reflect the latest development in the garment industry in a timely manner, Apparel World, the association's monthly journal, and www.cnga.org.cn, CNGA's official website, collect and sort out the industry information and reflect the industry trends. To boost the development of local Chinese brands, CNGA holds the event "Top 100 Companies" in terms of economic indicators and launches "China National Garment Association Award" in the principle of "Market Test". With regard to market expansion, China International Clothing & Accessories Fair (CHIC) has created the largest fashion fortune opportunity in Chinese garment industry as well as in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, "China Fashion Forum", held in parallel with CHIC, examines the intelligence of Chinese apparel insiders and allows the ideas of Chinese and foreign industry to integrate and upgrade. In the past years, CNGA has adhered to the ideology of scientific development and promoted the sustainable development of the industry. With the core of "Quality, Innovation, Fast Response and Social Responsibility", which is implemented in famous brand strategy, it will continue to provide more public services for the industry and drive the transformation of China from a large garment country to a strong garment country. |
